Academic Expectations
Arrive on time, with your materials, and ready to work!
Homeworkmust be complete and on time to receive full credit. Most daily assignments will not be accepted past the due date. Reading logs will be accepted as late (max. 50% credit) within one week of the due date, or before the close of the unit, whichever is sooner. Projects and longer writing assignments will lose 10% per school day (not class day).
Grading
Your grade will be based on quizzes, homework, short writing assignments, projects, essays, and class participation. The grades are based on a total point system. Every assignment is worth a certain number of points. At the end of the quarter, the points a student has earned are added and then divided by the total points possible for the marking period.
Typical Assignment Point Values:
Quizzes10-20 points
Homework10-20 points
Class participation10-20 points
Short writing assignments/projects20-50 points
Essays50-100 points
Absences
Students who are legally absent are solely responsible for meeting with the teacher on the day they return to school (during homeroom, AAP, or before school) to receive missed assignments. Legally absent students must hand in any work that was due when they were absent on the day that they return to school. Missed assignments are due the day after a student returns, unless the student and teacher agree upon another due date. Cutting class equals a zero for the work done that day.
Lateness
Arriving late once will earn you a warning. Arriving late two times earns a written referral. Please arrive to class on time.
Academic Assistance Period
AAP is available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week from 2:25 -3:15.
I look forward to a great year together!

9bhibs English Dictionary
9-Borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane or 9-BBN is an organoborane compound. This colourless solid is used in organic chemistry as a hydroborationreagent. The compound exists as a hydride-bridged dimer, which easily cleaves in the presence of reducible substrates.[1] 9-BBN is also known by its nickname 'banana borane'.[2] This is because rather than drawing out the full structure, chemists often simply draw a banana shape with the bridging boron.[3][better source needed]
Preparation[edit]
9-BBN is prepared by the reaction of 1,5-cyclooctadiene and borane usually in ethereal solvents, for example:[4][5]
The compound is commercially available as a solution in tetrahydrofuran and as a solid. 9-BBN is especially useful in Suzuki reactions.[6][7][8]
Its highly regioselective addition on alkenes allows the preparation of terminal alcohols by subsequent oxidative cleavage with H2O2 in aqueous KOH. The steric demand of 9-BBN greatly suppresses the formation of the 2-substituted isomer compared to the use of borane.
