COVID-19 Disaster Response – License Renewal/Registration Extensions
- Renewal of driver license with motorcycle (with or without changing address): $44; Replacement or change of address for driver license, commercial license or ID: $11; View and change emergency contacts: $0.Additional authentication fee in lieu of providing audit number: $1.75; This online service is provided by Texas.gov, the official website.
- Renew a License. NEW Renewal Requirement Effective September 1, 2020 For licensees who complete the renewal process on or after 9/01/2020 regardless of their license expiration date, a minimum of 1 CCU of Human Trafficking Prevention Training approved by the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is required as mandated in HB 2059 during the 86th Legislature in 2019.
- Licenses are eligible for renewal 60 days prior to expiration. TDLR encourages you to begin the renewal process as early as possible to avoid any lapses in licensure that may occur as a result of incomplete application materials or other delays.
- Renew your Texas driver license or ID card online with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). If you have moved, use this service to change the address on your Texas driver license or ID.

Registrations are available online 60-90 days prior to your current expiration date. If you cannot proceed with online registration, try again closer to your expiration date. Registration reminders will be sent out on postcards at least 60 days in advance of the expiration date.
